Tweetadder Build #110802 August 2, 2011

Build #110802

  • Changed URL shortener from tiny.ly to goo.gl due to twitter blocking tiny.ly
  • Removed URL shortener from RSS Tweets since it is unnecessary since Twitter automatically shortens URLs now.
  • Download links at http://tweetadder.com/download have been updated with the new release

    Thanks for the update, but the download links still have the old version again.

    Instead of keeping the same filename, how about making the download TweetAdder3-110802.exe or something like that, so it’s not a pain to download everytime?

  2. admin says:

    @Joe You will want to clear the cache in your browser then retry so that your browser installs the new download, vs supplying you with the old download stored in cache.

  3. Joe says:

    Got it downloaded. Thanks.

    Is there any way to bring back URL Shortening? Depending on the client, Twitter sometimes shows the original url instead of the t.co shortened link, and I’d rather obfuscate the source through a shortener. Could we use one of the more common ones like bit.ly that is unlikely to be blocked?

    Thanks again!

    Very impressed you were able to update the software within 24 hours. Great job!

  5. admin says:

    @Joe We can consider it if it is a needed item for some clients. We removed it from RSS feeds as we felt Twitter would shorten the urls anyway. We changed the tweet url shortener to http://www.goo.gl which is Google’s shortener.

    @Allen Thanks!!! ;)

  7. Chris Petty says:

    I’ll agree with Joe. While Twitter does shorten the link it appears as non shortened when sent by the RSS Feed. So, I have a visible link to my affiliate provider link which is Avantlink. Email me for the example account.

    great work on the software guys, thanks – I also cast my vote to add url shortening to the rss tweets, bit.ly or goo.gl

  9. Declan says:

    Please bring URL shortening back for RSS feeds. All my links are been shown as the original URL, I can’t find one since the update that has been shortened automatically by Twitter. And for what its worth I’d prefer bit.ly if possible as it does a good job of tracking clicks on links etc. Although got no problem with goo.gl either.

    But please bring back RSS URL shortening asap.

    Thanks,

    Declan.

  10. Daniel says:

    Please do sort by status. Not easy to run through the list to select that are looking for.

  11. David says:

    The RSS tweeter is showing my full URLs as well.. I’d prefer them to be shortened.

    Hi glad that you guys provide so many updates. Thank you for continuing to make the software better and better. I love TweetAdder it has been so useful for building targeted twitter accounts. One thing that I would like to see in relation to the change in url shortener’s would be to add the ability to add our google credentials so that the shortened urls will be shortened through our own Google accounts so that we can track them and use them for reporting to our management team.

    Thanks,
    @twiterrence
