TWEET ADDER 3.0 BUILD #111004 FAQs
A: This usually a Security Software or Firewall that has blocked the program from accessing the Internet that causes this. If you just updated the program to Tweetadder 3.0 build 111004, your firewall or security software will recognize the old program, but not the new one. You will have to go into your settings to allow the program to access the internet.
You can also try removing the account from the login window, and adding it again incase it is a password issue or something. Please note your user name and password in Tweetadder must match twitter’s profile user name and password exactly.
A: Yes, your computer must be on (not in sleep or hibernation mode), connected to the internet, and the Tweetadder program open in order to run through your automated settings. If you do not wish to have your computer running at all times, you can alternatively use the VPS (Virtual Private Server) with 3Essentials. We have also provided instructions for using VPS here.
A: We provide free upgrades for life. You will be automatically prompted to update once a new release is available, and you can also check out our blog to see which build # is the most recent.
A: You can enter your twitter accounts whenever you are ready. If you purchase the 5 user license, the software will have 5 credits shown. When you activate 1 account, the software will deduct the 1, and show that you have 4 available spots for additional accounts to be entered. The can be entered anytime and will remain available to you until you choose to use them.
A: You can remove an obsolete account from your manage users screen and add an active account, but you can not remove an active account and replace it with another active account; you can not manage more accounts than your license allows. If you need to upgrade your license, please visit www.tweetadder.com/upgrade.
A: You can always upgrade later for the difference in cost at www.tweetadder.com/upgrade.
A: Please send us your order ID numbers (NOT your registration codes) from your previous purchases, and we will create you a coupon code for the amount already paid, good towards your next upgrade purchase (when visiting www.tweetadder.com/upgrade and entering your original registration code).
A: You can use the following Facebook app to selectively post Tweets to your Facebook account. Simply add #fb to your tweets to post them on facebook too.

A: Twitter lists are ’subfolders’ you or others have created on twitter to sub categorize their friends into a set group. You can see the twitter lists on the right hand side of the twitter profile page.
A: The software can be installed on a maximum of 3 computers (and yes, you can move it across platforms). Remember that your twitter profile database of the program action, settings, and memory of followers resides on your computer. It is best to run a specific profile to a specific machine.
A: If you need to move your Tweet Adder 3 settings to a different computer, you can do so by moving the database files. The settings are stored in multiple files, one for the program settings, and one for each of your users. They are stored in a folder named “TweetAdder3″.
The databases for Tweet adder are stored in the following location depending on your operating system:
Windows 7 / Vista:
C:\Users\USER\AppData\Roaming\TweetAdder3
Windows XP
C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Application Data\TweetAdder3
OS X
Macintosh HD/Users/USER/Library/Preferences/TweetAdder3
In Windows, the files may be hidden. To show them, change the folder options setting:
Control Panel > Folder Options > Check Show Hidden Folders and Files > Click Apply
In Linux, the database folder is:
/home/USER/TweetAdder3
NOTE: You can also locate, backup, restore, and delete the database with the Tweetadder Database Manager: You can download the tool here: http://tweetadder.com/databasemanager.zip
A: That setting will only unfollow those added by the program. If you wish to unfollow users added before you started using TA, you can select ‘Unfollow ALL follows (except whitelist) under your unfollow setting.
A: All accounts are completely independent from one another, minus the fact that they are all going through the same internet connection. Each account much be set up separately by hand; there is no way to import settings across accounts.
A: http://truetwit.com/truetwit/welcome/index
It’s a validation service some people use. When you follow them, it sends you a DM to click a link, and fill out a captcha before deciding to follow you back.
If you become a True Twit user for your Twitter username, you will avoid being asked to be validated by people you follow.
**TROUBLE SHOOTING**
A: From time to time, various anti-virus and anti-malware programs will falsely report Tweetadder as being ‘bad ware’. This is usually because of ‘heuristics’ settings, that think Tweetadder looks like it could be malware because of the way it connects to the Internet to interact with Twitter. The best thing to do is report the issue directly to the developer of the program that is falsely reporting the issue. We notify the software companies as soon as we know about it, but it helps to have customers complaining as well. Generally they are fairly quick to correct their mistakes, but it can take anywhere from a few hours to a week or more for them to update the databases.
For an immediate fix, most programs have a way to ‘whitelist’ programs so the scanner will ignore them. Also, you may be able to disable ‘heuristics’ so that the program will only detect known malware, and not programs that it thinks might possibly be malware.
A: Press the “Reset User Data” button on the “Manage Users” page. This will reset the user’s/twitter profile settings within the program instead of needing to delete username.ta3 database file.
A: It could be due to the fact that there are internal and external locations for each profile. You can type ‘outer space’ in the external search. If an user’s actual location is in NC, you will come up under a search for both outer space and NC.
A: You can only start one manual action at a time, such as follow, unfollow, follow back, etc. To avoid this, we highly recommend that you setup the automation settings so that it can all run throughout the day.
A: Make sure you’re trying to post from an RSS feed and not an ATOM feed.
The RSS feed feature will post new feeds as they are added to the RSS Feed (at the checked interval times). It does not go down the list of RSS items posting past/old items. You need to leave the software running for new RSS entries to be posted .
The RSS tweets work as follows:
After the time delay, Tweet Adder checks the RSS feed that hasn’t been checked in the longest amount of time.
Only the top item in the feed is looked at (it does not post old items from the RSS).
If the top item hasn’t been tweeted yet, it gets tweeted .
If the top item has already been tweeted , nothing is tweeted .
Most RSS feeds will work with Tweet Adder, however there are some that will not work well due to them being in a non-standard format.
For best results, we recommend using RSS feeds that have an

A: Currently, the automation timer does not recognize end times that are sooner than the start time. 11:59 PM, being the latest end time possible. We do hope to improve this functionality in the future.
A: Currently the software will only send one message to each user. I would guess that all of your followers have already been messaged – so you are receiving that error. While most of our clients don’t want to send automated DMs to the same users over and over (because that could lead to blocks, unfollows, etc), we have added a “clear DM log” button which will enable you to send more messages to all of the people who you have messaged in the past.
A: Tweet Adder will not send duplicates. The program remembers who it has sent follows to or unfollowed and will not follow them again. This is not the case if you are using multiple profiles. The program only wipes duplicates from individual profiles within that particular profile. We will be working on a release that will give the option to remove duplicates across the board of all profiles combined in the future.
A: These means one of 2 things.
1. The software stopped at YOUR preset daily max to send in the day, found on the Auto Follow Tab settings.
2: The message that says “Follow Limit Reached” means that you have followed the maximum number of users that Twitter will currently allow you to follow (generally for a 24 hour time period). Twitter will allow you to follow up to 1000 users in a single day, but they sometimes restrict you to less than that. If you are approaching 2000 followers, twitter will not let you follow more than 2000 users until 2000 are following you. To get around this, you will need to unfollow users to free up slots so you can add more, and then follow other people that you think will follow you back. Twitter also can limit you based on your following to follower ratio. This kicks in after you pass the 2000 barrier. Tweet Adder auto detects this limit and will immediately stop following once a limit is reached.
A: The message that says “No more ids to unfollow” means just that, with the current settings you have set, there is nobody to unfollow. If you have the checkbox that says “wait X days before unfollowing” checked, you can decrease the number of days, or you can uncheck it all together. We recommend setting it for 1 day to give time for your new follows to convert to follow backs. If you want to unfollow everyone that is not following you back, you can uncheck the box that says “Only unfollow users that were followed using Tweet Adder”.
If you are attempting to unfollow all users who do not follow you back, please note tweetadder only will unfollow those you actually followed with the program in this setting, not people you already followed prior to using the program.
A: First, make sure you have entered all of your registration codes (if you’ve upgraded at some point) to your registration screen.
Second, one account can not be managed across more than 1 license. Please let us know if you are co-managing the account with someone else.
Third, please send us the username of the account, and we will release it from the license it is currently associated with. You may want to change your password on Twitter, then change the password in Tweetadder under your manage users screen to match.
A: Tweet Adder 3 is meant to run throughout the day, and automatically follow, unfollow, etc in a natural looking way all day long. If you wish, you can also limit it to specific hours (8:00AM – 11:00PM for example) on the settings page of each user’s account.
Think about it, it looks very unnatural to follow many people per minute. The ability to follow users “now” on a per second basis, was only included in the software for users who are unable to leave the software running (can only connect to the Internet for a limited amount of time, etc), and for users who want the instant gratification of seeing users being followed immediately.
We highly recommend not using the “send follow now” feature, but instead setup the software to follow on a per minute basis through automation. The new version allows multiple accounts to run concurrently, so even if you use several accounts, there is no need to follow/unfollow with one account, and then the next, and then the next, etc.. because it will automatically run all of them throughout the day.
So, the advantages are:
All accounts can run at the same time
Your twitter profile can grow in a more natural looking way
You are much less likely to be flagged by Twitter for “aggressive following behavior”
A: There is no longer a need to open an instance for each user, because one instance can now run automations for all of your users concurrently.
This is much more CPU and memory efficient, as well as easier to manage because you can view the status of all of your users from the overview screen.
A: Open the account you wish to run proxies on > click your username on the left hand side > click ’settings’.
This is where your proxy options are located. We are currently updating our tutorials to provide you with step by step instructions for the new private proxy feature.
A: The new version works entirely different. It automatically runs all of the automations (that are turned on) on of your accounts at the same time. It is meant to be left running throughout the day, so that all of your accounts can tweet, follow, unfollow, etc. throughout the day in a natural looking way.
Your computer must be on (not in sleep or hibernation mode), connected to the internet, and the tweetadder program open in order to run through your automated settings.
By default, Tweet Adder will run automations anytime the software is open and the accounts are logged in. You can set a start and stop time so the automations will only run during part of the day:
1. Open an account
2. Expand the top menu item group (the title of the box is your username)
3. Click on Settings
4. Check the checkbox that says “Only run automated tasks between:
5. Enter your desired time range.
A: To take a screen shot of an error on your account, please complete the following steps:
In Windows
1. Press the “Print Screen” button.
2. Open Microsoft Paint. To do this, click Start > All Programs > Accessories > Paint.
3. Click inside the white part of the screen.
4. Go to the Edit menu and select Paste.
5. Click File > Save As.
6. In the box that pops up, change the “Save As” type to JPG.
7. After typing in a filename for your image, choose a location on your hard drive to save to, like the Desktop, and click “Save.”
MAC
1. Simultaneously hold down the ⌘-Shift-4 keys.
2. Press the spacebar.
3. Click the open window that you wish to take a screen shot of. The screen shot should appear as a file on the desktop labeled “Picture 1.”
A: You cannot see the special characters because the correct fonts are not installed on your computer.
For Windows XP, getting additional languages installed is as follows:
Start > Settings > Control Panel > Regional Options and Language Options.
In the Languages tab, check the Supplemental language support option(s) you want. Setting both options will install all optional fonts. This adds fonts as well as system support for these languages.
For Windows 2000, getting additional languages installed is as follows:
Start > Settings > Control Panel > Regional Options.
In the General tab, set all the languages you may want to display, the more you set, the more you will be able to process multilingual data through all your applications, including your browser. This adds fonts as well as system support for these languages.
Full fonts:
If you have Microsoft Office 2000 and newer versions, you can get the Arial Unicode MS font, which is the most complete. To get it, insert the Office CD, and do a custom install. Choose Add or Remove Features. Click the (+) next to Office Tools, then International Support, then the Universal Font icon, and choose the installation option you want.
A: The “to-do” section has been replaced with the Overview screen.
From the overview screen, you can see a current summary of all of your accounts.
You can see how many Follows, Followers, and Updates have been posted today, and total. You can also see how many tweets, follows, followbacks, and unfollows are left, as well as which features have automation turned on or off.
You can also click on the “Activity” button on the tool bar to see exactly what has happened when, with each account.
In regards to the stats, this is outdated. You can view which automated settings have run under your Activity Log screen.
A: Please completely uninstall any versions of Tweetadder that you currently have on your computer, restart your computer, then download Tweetadder 3.0. Contact us back if this problem persists.
If you have the program open on another other computer and are trying to install the 3.0 version, you will still have trouble. Uninstall from both machines.
If you keep getting a message that you need to download the latest version (in a loop) it is because you need to clear your browser cache/temporary internet files. Your browser isn’t downloading the latest version because you have the other version cached.
still gives my tons of UK results.
A: If you use the location search, rather than the profile data search, you will be able to get much more accurate location based results.
The location search works off of longitude and latitude coordinates, while the profile data search can only search from the text they entered as their location. We are currently working to improve the accuracy of the text search, but even with a better searching algorithm, you will have mixed results with users who have only entered “london”.
Also, if you maximize the window you may be able to see the location at the same time (depending on the screen resolution of your monitor)
We will look into adding the ability to export in CSV. The issue there is being able to re-import CSV files, knowing which column has the user id, etc.
A: Limits will depend on many factors. internet connection speed, CPU, ram, frequency of automated tasks for each account, etc. I would think that the average computer should have no problem running a dozen or more accounts with average settings.
restart doing exactly what it was doing prior to reboot?
A: You can make Tweet Adder start when the computer starts by putting a shortcut to it in your “Startup Folder”. Tweet adder will login to the accounts that were previously logged in, and will start off where it left off.
A: This means the program is trying to follow an account that has been suspended by twitter. Please go to your ‘to follow’ list and remove the account from your list of users to follow.
A: The message ‘ERROR: NOT AUTHORIZED’ means that the profile you are trying to gather IDs from is private and their followers can not be gathered.

A: If the program crashes when you click on the tweet tab, it’s because you have imported a list of tweets that is somehow formatted incorrectly.
You can upload tweets or direct messages in text format (.txt). Ensure you have no more than 140 characters per tweet or message including any urls you may have.
Place each tweet or message on a different line in the text file.
The only solution is for them to remove the database for that particular user.
Completely delete the database for that user.
If this problem continues to persist, please send us the exact tweet file you were trying to import/ most recently imported, so that we may further assist you.
A: This is an issue we are currently investigating, since there is no known cause at this time.
Please let us know the following:
-How many accounts you are managing
-How many licenses you are using
-Whether or not you are using proxies
-Which specific function you are using and receiving this error on
A: You can upload tweets or direct messages in text format (.txt). Ensure you have no more than 140 characters per tweet or message including any urls you may have.
Place each tweet or message on a different line in the text file.
A: From your overview screen, open the account you wish to manage > on the left hand side of the screen, click the pull down arrow next to your username > select ‘black/white list’. Please note that you must currently enter users to your blacklist or whitelist manually, one by one.
A: Please remember that your computer must be on (not in sleep or hibernation mode), connected to the internet, and the tweetadder program open in order to run through your automated settings, including your auto tweets.
Please also make sure you have loaded your tweets properly:
You can upload tweets or direct messages in text format (.txt). Ensure you have no more than 140 characters per tweet or message including any urls you may have.
Place each tweet or message on a different line in the text file.
Make sure you have your automation turned ON.
If this problem persists, please send us a screen shot of your tweet settings, as well as one of your activity log, and let us know of any error messages you are receiving.
Most likely the issue is that all of the tweets have already been posted fairly recently. Twitter will not let you post the same exact tweet more than once within a short period of time.
You should add more tweets, perhaps using the tweet generator to make them more unique.
A: Tweetadder only shows the names of followers since the use of the program.
A: Tweetadder is a tool which runs automatically per your specific settings, so you don’t have to do it manually.
When an account is showing as idle, it is waiting for your specific time frame settings to run automation.
If you are managing a single account and your account goes idle, this is usually because you have hit ‘run now’ somewhere within the program. The program stops automation because it thinks what you are running now is more important than what you have your automatic settings programmed as.
If you are managing multiple accounts and switch to another account, the account that was already going through your automated settings will go idle. The same principles from above apply.
A: Due to the new version not using the API, the searches of a user’s followers need to be done page by page.
So, since only 20 followers are displayed per page, the software needs to visit twitter 1650 times to get all of the 33k results.
Sometimes Twitter does not return all of the results correctly, and as anyone who uses twitter will know, Twitter is often having “over capacity” / “Whale Fail” issues. which can often lead to not all of the results being returned.
